Message as most of you know i purchased damonh's old car as it sat. its a great car..just needed some finishing. so on june 26th 2004 i took delivery of the car.

so with guaps help ..we tore into it and finished it up.

well we finished everything and things were hunky doooorie ...but numb nuts me never got around to tuning it. bad move. very bad move.

so less than 4 months of driving (or there aboots) i developed a knock. yay..crap. i nursed it for a month or so and then after the holidays i tore into it.

put it up on the nixit blocks ..and decided the next route. (you like the rear tires...i call them slicks...they have been replaced since then)

after tearing down the whole car to the block ...i started to remove rod caps and found the problem. #2 rod bear was flattened. nice. good job erik. way to go. you the man. idiot.

the 'gold' color is bad.

after much debate in my head i decided to replace the bearings and be done with it. everything else was within spec. now i needed to find out the bearing grade. its on the block right? ...not mine apparently (remember, this is a new OEM shortblock..so lettering MAY have changed ..this i do not know, but damon, kyle, and coz all could not figure out the markings on the block & crank)

crank

block

after we figured that out ...i ordered the bearings and off we go.

i slowly put everything back together with the help of the engine rebuild guide (AWESOME!)

..while doing so i decided i would make things a little more stock looking. out comes the spray paint (i huffed a lot of it ..just cause) ..thats 5 coats of hightemp flat black, two coats of hightemp crinkle, and one more coat of hightemp flat black. ..yet i STILL scratched them up when putting it back together...oh well.

added tbolt clamps on almost every hose connection..these are 11mm ...and if you dont have a 11mm deep socket..they SUCK putting on. oh well.

anywise, i finished up last night with putting the engine back together and what not. figured out the gremlins and my stupid mistakes. did you know a car runs much better with the MAF hooked up? go figure.

code 55 ..good job

thanks go out to the following people

kyle, coz, guap, damonz, gregf, kenny (fag), spencer (double fag), and the whole tt.net stuff.

i did 99.5% of the work myself. my father helped me pull the engine, but i put it in alone. steve helped me with the tbelt cause i didnt want to dork it. ..after you do all of this..the car is MUCH MUCH less intimidating.

...i cant spell, but i dont care.

pss....ill post more pictures, dyno chart, and what not in the next couple of weeks i hope.

pss1a. listen to the smart people and tune your car if you modify it...or face the fact you WILL screw soemthing up.
